1. Grand Central Station
89 E 42nd St, New York, NY 10017
That Gossip Girl moment. Throwback to the high school days watching that series. Indeed had a major Blair Waldorf moment or perhaps if you're feeling Serena van der Woodsen or either one of the guys. It was such an iconic place to be in and I didn't know this station was just a few minutes walk away from the hotel I stayed in. Make sure to look up at the ceiling too, as my friend would also recommend. Picturesque!
2. Empire State Building
350 5th Ave, New York, NY 10118
Cue in Jay Z's Empire State Of Mind! This song never gets old and forever will be timeless and as classic as this true blue New York icon, the Empire State Building. Brb, I might have to sing along to the Empire State of Mind song. In New Yooooorrrrrrkkkk! You can get an awesome view of the building when you go to Top Of The Rock in Rockefeller.
3. Flatiron Building
175 5th Ave, New York, NY 10010
Postcard perfect consists of the Flatiron Building with its impalpable structure and the busy street. Standing skinny and tall in 5th Avenue. Photo op worthy definitely.
4. St. Patrick's Cathedral
5th Ave, New York, NY 10022
I had to make my own version of the movie Eat. Pray. Love. when I visited the big apple. For the first time in ages, I found myself inside a church saying all thanks and praises to Him above, for the wonderful adventure I was taking and for the strength as I was proudly exploring the city alone. Felt complete, felt still. Always be thankful.
5. Radio City Music Hall
1260 6th Ave, New York, NY 10020
Welcome yourself to the entertainment department located in Rockefeller Center. My friend had a house warming party and as a present for him, I had a photo of this iconic place printed and framed. He loved it. I loved it.
6. Times Square
Manhattan, NY 10036
On my first night, I found myself drenched in rain, never blinded by the bright lights and standing in a sea of tourists under the umbrellas. Timeless, that is Times Square. The New York appeal when visiting Times Square is real. Undeniably an iconic spot and a must visit when visiting the city.
7. 9/11 Memorial
180 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10007
It was a different mood, different feeling being able to stand still, read the engraved names of the beloved, and watch the heavy gust of wind linger through the waters. These beautiful souls will always be remembered.
8. The Oculus
World Trade Center, New York, NY 10003
A much-needed breather after being outside Ground Zero. Amazed by the architectural details of this gem. Filled with various shops and there's a train station inside too. Convenient and definitely Instagram worthy.
9. Greenwich Village
Greenwich Village, New York, NY
Instagrammable neighbourhood. Found myself strolling around the village after a satisfying brunch at one of my favorite restaurants in New York which I will talk about in a different post. The stroll was extra special as a woman in front of me was singing as if she was in an opera house. Magical!
10. Washington Square Park
Washington Square Park, New York, NY 10012
The infamous arch. It was Valentine's Day when I was able to visit this place. Reached this spot without even making proper itinerary or plans and surprisingly, my feet and the wanderlust in me brought me here. Sunny weather brought so much joy as I saw people handing out flowers to strangers. Such a sweet gesture at this beautiful park. Best way to explore the big apple? Walking. Make sure to bring comfy footwear.
11. Rockefeller Center
45 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10111
In the mood to unleash the inner ice skater in you? The Rink at Rockefeller Center welcomes you. Catching up the winter vibe through ice skating will surely be a good idea and one for the books.
12. Top Of The Rock
Rockefeller Center, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10020
Purchase your ticket(s) ahead online to avoid long lines. Make sure ticket is ready not the voucher or else they will still print it which will still consume time which happened to me. But thank goodness, one of the associates made me skip the long lines and printed my ticket. Felt like a VIP. She was very nice and welcoming too.
13. Central Park
Central Park, New York, NY 10024
Need a break from the concrete jungle? The towering buildings and busy streets can be intimidating. Truth be told. Come to Central Park for that much needed zen moment. Although the trees aren't in full effect during the winter season, you get a different feel in the park. Summer and Fall season should also be a wonderful time to wander around with lush floras and faunas.
14. Bergdorf Goodman
754 5th Ave New York, NY 10019
In the shopping department, Bergdorf Goodman got me shook. With an entire building dedicated to menswear and another building dedicated to womenswear, the fashionista, the shopaholic, for short the Carrie Bradshaw in me was mesmerised. From all the designer pieces that I could ever dream of, wishing I could either be a billionaire or perhaps work there so I could just stare at the wonderful items that the store has to offer. Window shopping never felt so good.
15. Brooklyn Bridge
Brooklyn Bridge, New York, NY 10038
Bridge not just for cars. Another must visit spot when in the big apple. Tip, make sure to bring your own lock and marker. I found a spot in the bridge with love locks and found it cute. There are also parts of the bridge of which prohibits locks though so extra careful about that.
16. Manhattan Bridge
Manhattan Bridge, New York, NY 11201
Incase you need another bridge in your life to complete your visit, meet the Manhattan Bridge. It's just actually right across Brooklyn Bridge.
17. Wall Street
Wall St, New York, NY
Men in suit and tie with their trench coat on? Oohh! Welcome to Wall Street. Also, come see the Charging Bull. Would be a wonderful subject if the Fearless Girl was in the photo but it was covered with tourists that time.
18. Statue of Liberty
Liberty Island, New York, NY 10004
To complete your New York adventure and to fuel your knowledge from the history books, Statue of Liberty is a spot one should never miss. Although I only saw this beaut from afar, I was still in awe with the afternoon sunlight hitting Lady Liberty. She must be tired raising her right arm ha? Kidding aside, the next time I visit New York, I need to make sure to come closer to Liberty Island and see this iconic spot closeup.
